  • Oh dear how sad. Far-right Gobshite Hatie Cockpins has been booted from Australia, for flouting their COVID quarantine rules in a typically childish manner which in no way, except in her tiny racist mind, “owned the libs”

The notoriously fact adverse non-entity, probably best know for being bankrupted by her own bigotry was told, and I quote “pack up your Bongo and get out of the country”.

The penniless hack is probably ruing this, as she almost certainly was in desperate need of the pay for appearing on Australia’s Big Brother VIP.

Surely she is best known for getting pumped off someone's husband over a farmer's gate before taking an aggressive stance on the destruction of traditional families?

Or for going on the One Show to talk about how her children aren't allowed to play with children who have places for names because it shows their parents are classless, but forgetting she has a daughter called India?

And of course her first hand experience of a rapid change in financial circumstances, yet still claims anyone living in poverty with a child should’ve thought whether they could afford a child.

She really is a pointless and hateful old cow.

  • I was kinda hoping she'd have been jailed in Aus rather than just deported, because deportation means she comes back *here* and she's running out of countries that'll let her in.

I think it's just how he Governs - pulls a decision out of his rear and then U-turns if people complain. He managed 2 hours 38 minutes this time, which may be close to a new record.

Happy “Sod it, governing is hard. You do what you want and then we’ll dodge the blame when it all inevitably goes Tits up and a third lockdown becomes necessary” Day to all U.K. posters!
And Boris is still recommending everyone proceeds with caution and avoids doing stuff. So we're back at the "Well the pubs are technically open so we don't need to furlough, but don't actually visit them" we had last year, good-oh.

I'm glad Australia didn't keep her. We have enough issues without taking yours. She's your problem now

  • Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham had to cancel all planned elective operations for 2 days due to the influx of covid patients.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...ngham-57865958

This is of course the best time to remove all restrictions as it is clear that the NHS is not struggling with the influx of patients due to systemic underfunding and staff and bed shortages /sarcasm

EDIT: And bear in mind that "elective" covers a lot of stuff, such as organ transplants.

    • So 'freedumb day' here in the UK.

Not sure what shops will do. I won't go into shops that aren't continuing to mandate masks - I guess people like me will probably outnumber people that won't go into shops because they disagree with wearing them, so hopefully market force (if not care of their staff) will push most in that direction.

Funny the mail was saying that Johnson was going to give a speed today "channelling the spirit of Churchill" to declare victory over the virus. I'm not sure if that is still going to happen, but you couldn't make this shit up.. ?

That would very much be the pandemic equivalent of the "Mission Accomplished" speech GW Bush did about the Iraq war.

Yeah, the QE is a major tertiary centre hospital, their elective work includes an awful lot of cancer surgery and some specialised organ transplants. Notably, this includes the only liver transplant unit in the West Midlands.

Some of those on the liver transplant list will likely die as a result of the delays. Some of the cancer patients too. 2 days might not seem like long, but we are talking dozens of operations across the trust in that time and the delay may be extended.

In addition, transplants and cancer operations are generally big surgeries requiring the most resources, so they are hard to carry out when the intensive care units are overflowing. They will be prioritised when restarting, but it is logistically challenging.

              • LA County just put their mask mandate back in place. That is the largest county in the United States, as Covid-19 was spreading quickly amongst the Unvaccinated.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles County continues to see a resurgence in the COVID-19 pandemic that has seen local case rates and hospitalizations skyrocket -- with the latest numbers showing another 1,635 cases and four additional deBritney Spears calls out those who didn'tlend a hand when she was 'drowning'

The figures -- which brought the county's totals to 1,267,860 cases and 24,583 fatalities since the pandemic began -- likely reflect reporting delays over the weekend, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

                • So my local has restored their pre-pandemic furniture, including an exceedingly comfy Chesterfield style sofa.

I’m torn on this one. On one hand, I’m fully vaccinated, will still be masking up and taking other sensible, hardly a bother precautions.

But just like driving, it’s everyone else you need to be wary of. I by no means purposefully police such things, but the number of filthy buggers not washing their hands after a visit to the cludgey is alarming. Even caught one particularly nasty sod pissing in the sink (he got barred…)

                  • A friend of mine is on vacation in an English beach resort, booked before freedom day was announced, and is apparently in some living maskless hell at the moment. All caution and consideration is completely gone. I won't be surprised if they hide in their hotel until the end or even abandon and come home early.

That's the big problem; everyone needs to rely on everyone not being a moron. Alas, given the hassle shops had when masks were mandatory, this can only end badly.

I had a few beers on Saturday night with some friends in one of their back gardens. He was talking about maybe going down to Bournemouth beach on Sunday. Think we talked him out of it in the end!

I nearly said "Ah, but on Sunday the rules would still be in place so it wouldn't be so bad", but I bet hardly anyone was following the rules by then anyway?

That was certainly the case when I was in London over the weekend.

                  • First drink in the pub since lockdown was relaxed.

Sofas are back, which is nice, bar service is back, which feels odd.

Still got my mask which I wear when ordering, because it’s polite.
