  • New member welcome thread

    Hello all,

My name is Ouze, long time listener, first time caller. I am interested in collecting minis - which I seldom finish painting - and also enjoy fishing, reading, video games, cooking and shooting. Well, right now I am sort of in between video games? I'd really like to play the Mass Effect remaster but... I already know how it's going to go, and I have a new job so I am not sure I want to sink 300 hours or whatever into a game that is going to hit the exact same beats with somewhat better graphics, you know?

I hope you are all doing well, and I am excited to join this community. Hopefully other new people can use this thread to introduce themselves to each other, to the community at large, and all that good stuff.

    Welcome!

Good idea too. I'm Herzlos, I'm in IT and have 2 young kids so my gaming time is minimal. At the moment I'm mostly doing cycling and DIY, and like arguing about politics / current affairs which is why I've migrated over here from Dakka.

      Welcome Ouze! :)

I remember you (and certainly the A10 profile pic!) from Dakka. Are you interested in military aircraft and the like can I ask?

Totally there with you on the Mass Effect trilogy :D And I worry that the reality of playing it again won't match the memories! I haven't touched the new FF7 games for the same reason..

Some of the moments hit just as hard as always. Mordin's "It had to be me... Someone else might have gotten it wrong" is still a heartbreaker

Yes, good idea, and welcome to Ouze.

I'm nfe and I'm an archaeologist teaching at a Scottish university. Mostly I work on developing theoretical frameworks for interpretation ancient socialisation and knowledge transfer, particularly in Bronze and Iron Age Southwest Asia. I also do some research on labour relations and equality of opportunity in archaeological practice. This is heavily informed by my being a pretty militant lefty.

I also like toy soldiers and extreme music - put out a few records and used to run one of the UK's bigger independent metal festivals.

I have never played a Mass Effect game.

Yes, good idea. Hadn't twigged that this thread hadn't been re-created since the forum wipe.

I'm Crispy. I live in the south of the UK (near Winchester) and am currently feeling the transition from 'early 40s' to 'mid 40s'. I'm married with 2 sons - eldest has just levelled up to Teenager which is a little scary. I work in IT for a global cosmetics and skincare company. In keeping with this thread so far, I also enjoy Mass Effect. :)

Yes but not in a professional capacity - I also work in IT. I just think they're neat!

            This sounds pretty wild.

I'm a lefty libtard hedonist living out here on the Canadian best coast. I'm a husband and dad and a gamer and a huge nerd. I live for music. I work in construction, on the planning side of things. I main Ogres on the fantasy table and Skaven on the fantasy pitch. Or Humans. Sometimes Orcs, or Dark Elves, or Norse, or... Nuffle demands many sacrifices. Cheers!

I am unclear if that is the name of the festival, or if you are merely cursing the other offerings.
